Any image · cropped in your browser, never uploaded

Runs in your browser — your file is never uploaded.

JPEG is the photo format, and the reason to keep a cropped photo as a JPG is size: the same image is a fraction of what a PNG would be. This tool keeps a JPG as a JPG rather than upgrading it to a much larger lossless file.

One thing worth knowing: JPEG is lossy, so saving re-encodes the image. The pixels you keep are copied at full resolution and the quality is set high, but repeatedly cropping and re-saving the same JPG will slowly soften it. Crop once from the original where you can. JPEG also has no transparency — a transparent source area becomes white.

How to crop a JPG

  1. 1Add the JPG. Drop it in — nothing is uploaded.
  2. 2Select the area. Drag the box, or type exact pixels.
  3. 3Download. A cropped JPG, ready to share.

Frequently asked questions

Does the crop stay a JPG?+

Yes — a JPEG source is saved as a JPG so the file stays small.

Does cropping reduce quality?+

The kept pixels are copied at full resolution, but JPEG re-encodes on save, so avoid repeatedly re-cropping the same file.
