Convert WebM to GIF
Short answer
Drop a WebM clip in and download it as a GIF. Set the frame rate and width first — those two settings decide the file size more than anything else.

MP4 · MOV — converted in your browser, never uploaded
Runs in your browser — your file is never uploaded.
WebM turns up wherever the web records or serves video directly: screen recorders, browser capture extensions, and a lot of sites that serve WebM instead of MP4 to save bandwidth. It plays fine in a browser and almost nowhere else, which is why people convert it — a GIF drops into a chat, an issue tracker, or a doc where a WebM will not play at all.
The trade is size. GIF has no modern video compression and is limited to 256 colours, so a few seconds of WebM can become a very large GIF. Two settings do almost all the work: width, and frame rate. Halving the width roughly quarters the pixel count, and 10–15 fps is usually enough to read as motion for a screen recording.
The conversion is the same video-to-GIF path this tool uses for MP4 — WebM is simply another accepted input. It runs in your browser, so the clip is never uploaded.
How to convert WebM to GIF
- 1Add the WebM. Drop it in — nothing is uploaded.
- 2Set the width. Match the size it will actually be displayed at.
- 3Set the frame rate. 10-15 fps is usually enough for a screen recording.
- 4Download. Save the GIF.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my GIF so much bigger than the WebM?+
Because GIF has no modern video compression and caps at 256 colours per frame. Reduce the width and the frame rate — those two settings drive the size far more than the clip's length.
Why convert WebM to GIF at all?+
WebM plays in browsers but not in most chat apps, issue trackers, or documents. A GIF is the format those surfaces will actually render inline.
Will the GIF look as good as the WebM?+
Not quite — 256 colours per frame means gradients band. A palette built from your own clip, which this tool does, keeps it much closer than a generic palette would.
