eBay Seller Fee Calculator

See your total eBay seller fees and your actual profit after what you paid for the item and shipping.

Short answer

eBay seller fees are the final value fee (about 13.6% of item + shipping for most categories), a $0.30–$0.40 per-order fee, and any optional Promoted Listings ad fee. To find your real profit, subtract those fees plus your item cost and shipping label cost from the sale. Enter your numbers to see fees, net proceeds, and profit in one place.

Turning fees into real profit

Fees are only half the picture — your profit depends on what you paid for the item and what shipping costs you. Enter your item cost and label cost and the calculator subtracts them from your net proceeds, so you see whether a sale actually makes money. It flags any sale that loses money after fees and costs, which is easy to miss on low-margin items.

How we calculate this

Every number on this page comes from eBay's standard US managed-payments fee structure, applied step by step:

  1. Sale total. item price plus the shipping you charge the buyer. eBay's fee applies to both, so shipping is part of the base.
  2. Final value fee. the category rate (13.6% for most US categories) on the sale total up to $7,500, then 2.35% on the portion above $7,500. Payment processing is already included in this fee.
  3. Per-order fee. a fixed $0.30 on orders of $10 or less, otherwise $0.40, charged once per order.
  4. Optional fees. a Promoted Listings ad fee (your chosen ad rate × the sale) if you advertise, and a 1.65% international fee when the buyer is outside the US.
  5. Net proceeds & profit. sale total minus all eBay fees is your net proceeds; subtract your item cost and shipping label cost to get profit.

Assumptions

  • Standard US managed-payments selling — Store subscriptions and below-standard seller status can change the rate.
  • The 13.6% rate covers most categories; some (vehicles, high-value, and a few others) differ, so the rate is adjustable.
  • The final value fee includes payment processing; there is no separate PayPal fee anymore.
  • Educational estimates only — check eBay's current fee pages for your exact category and account.

How much does eBay take from a sale?+

For most US categories, eBay charges a final value fee of about 13.6% of the total sale — item price plus shipping — up to $7,500, then 2.35% on anything above that, plus a fixed per-order fee of $0.30 (orders $10 or less) or $0.40. So on a $100 item with $10 shipping you'd pay roughly $15 in fees and keep about $95. Payment processing is already included in that fee. Enter your numbers above to see the exact split.

Does eBay charge fees on shipping?+

Yes. eBay's final value fee applies to the total amount of the sale, which includes the shipping you charge the buyer — not just the item price. That's why offering 'free shipping' (building the cost into the item price) doesn't avoid the fee. The calculator adds your shipping charge to the item price before applying the fee, so the estimate matches what eBay actually bills.

What is the eBay final value fee?+

The final value fee is eBay's main selling fee: a percentage of the total sale charged when your item sells. For most categories it's 13.6% up to $7,500 per item and 2.35% above that, though rates vary by category — some, like a few high-value or vehicle categories, differ. It replaced the old separate listing and PayPal fees; payment processing is now rolled into this one fee.

How do I calculate my eBay profit?+

Start with your sale total (item + shipping), subtract eBay's fees (final value fee + per-order fee + any ad fee), then subtract what you paid for the item and your shipping label cost. What's left is your profit. Enter your item cost and label cost above and the calculator does this for you, flagging any sale that loses money after fees.

What are Promoted Listings fees?+

Promoted Listings is eBay's optional advertising: you set an ad rate, and if a buyer clicks your promoted listing and buys within a window, eBay charges that percentage of the sale on top of the final value fee. Rates are typically 2%–15%. It's optional, so leave the ad rate at 0 if you don't promote — toggle it on above to see how it changes your take-home.

Are these eBay fee figures exact?+

They're close estimates for standard US managed-payments selling. The biggest variable is the category rate — 13.6% covers most categories, but some differ, so you can enter your exact rate. Store subscriptions, below-standard seller status, international sales, and category-specific rules can all change the total. Check eBay's current fee pages for your category, and use this to plan.
